Know this feeling well.
When the burning ceiling panels, insulation, and part of the rafters fall on you , you think you punched the card. It hits you like a ton of bricks. In my case, I got hot twice once with that and then when my nozzleman hit me with the hose stream to put me out. All I could hear was him yelling at me asking if I was alright. I'm glad my helmet was on tight and my mask was tight. I shook of the debris and got back on the line. My gear and training saved me along with the angel that is my nozzeman. It all happened, beginning to end, in about ten seconds. It may sound crazy but it happens everyday to firefighters everywhere.
Cherish your life, live your life.
